I just recently learned how to make my own soaps and have realized I love doing it. I'm pretty darn good at it too! That was a bit of a surprise actually. I get flustered and frustrated in the kitchen quite easily so I thought making soaps would have the same effect on me, it actually doesn't! I've found it to be very relaxing, rewarding and therapeutic. I am just starting out and find it really easy so far, but I like to challenge myself by thinking up unique combinations and recipes. Each time I get more pleased with the results. I'm only using the melt&pour technique right now, I haven't attempted making my bases from scratch yet. I can't wait until I do though. I just have to find some lye, so far I'm not having any luck. Since I live in an apartment with a small kitchen I probably shouldn't tackle it just yet anyhow. In the mean time I'm going to keep handcrafting beautiful soaps with pre-made bases. Some people say making soap using the melt & pour method is cheating, but I say "not if they turn out this fantabulous!"

Bramble Berry has rebatch bases. Which is basically Cold Process soaps grated up. Great way to get started into using lye. Since it's already made, no need to track down all the ingredients. Bramble Berry also supplies lye I believe.
Thanks for the info LittlestDustBunny! Unfortunately, I'm in Canada and the shipping costs are too much to buy from the US, also I don't think Lye can be exported/imported. However, I didn't even think about looking for Lye online in Canada! Again thanks for the tip!
